Product Detail
Name: N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine
CAS: 112-69-6
Feature:
N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine is a clear yellow liquid with a fishy smell. Insoluble in water, the density is less than that of water. So it floats on the water. Contact may irritate skin, eyes and mucous membranes. May be toxic by ingestion, inhalation or skin absorption. Used in the manufacture of other chemicals. N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine is used as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of quaternary ammonium compounds, amine oxides and betaine surfactants. N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine neutralizes the acid in an exothermic reaction to form a salt and water. May be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides and acid halides. Combination with strong reducing agents such as hydrides may produce flammable gaseous hydrogen.
N,N-Dimethyltetradecylamine is toxic. Inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.
N,N-Dimethyltetradecylamine is combustible material. It may burn but does not readily. When heated, vapors may form explosive mixtures with air: indoors, outdoors and sewers explosion hazards. Contact with metals may evolve flammable. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways. Substance may be transported in a molten form.
N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine has the following applications/functions:
1. N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine is used as a pore mediator to synthesize monodisperse mesoporous silica nanoparticles.
2. N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine is used as a swelling agent in the preparation of colloidal mesoporous silica nanoparticles with adjustable mesopore size.
3. N,N-Dimethylhexadecylamine is the preparation of 1,4-bis(N-hexadecyl-N,N-dimethylammonium) butanedibromide, Gemini surfactant.
