Lysozyme is a glycoside hydrolase that is widely found in plants and animals. It is substantially the same as the β-1,4 glycosidic bond between NAM and NAC. The lytic mechanism by which lysozyme kills bacteria includes hydrolysis of the enzymatic peptidoglycan of the bacterial wall and induction of autolysis of the bacteria by autolysis.
