A study conducted on 34,000 one-day-old broiler chicks found that dietary supplementation with chromium methionine chelate improved the birds' body weight, weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio. It also reduced the mortality rate, indicating a positive impact on the overall health and productivity of the birds .
The chelated chromium has shown the ability to alleviate oxidative stress in broilers by increasing plasma glutathione peroxidase activity and reducing serum malondialdehyde levels. This suggests that chromium methionine can play an antioxidant role, protecting tissues from oxidative damage .
Supplementation with chromium methionine has also been found to increase the total protein level in the blood serum of broilers while reducing glucose, total cholesterol, and triglyceride concentrations.
