As an antioxidant, sinapic acid is capable of neutralizing free radicals by donating its phenoxyl hydrogen atom, leading to the formation of relatively stable phenoxyl radicals with delocalized unpaired electrons, which are less reactive . This property makes it a potent antioxidant and effective radical scavenger, contributing to its anti-aging potential .
In terms of its pharmacological actions, sinapic acid has been reported to exhibit anti-colitis effects, acting as an antioxidant, showing anti-cancer properties, and promoting lipolysis and lipid metabolism .
