Lauryl glucoside is recognized for its excellent foaming ability, making it suitable for use in products like shampoos, shower gels, and skin cleansers .
This surfactant has a molecular formula of C18H36O6, a molecular weight of approximately 348.5, and a boiling point of 301°C at 101.3kPa . Lauryl glucoside is considered safe for skin as it is a mild surfactant with little or no risk of irritation, which is why it is often used in formulations for sensitive skin . The ingredient has a high hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value of 10-12, indicating its strong emulsifying and foam-boosting capabilities .
In terms of safety, lauryl glucoside has been assessed by several agencies, including the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR), and is considered a safe ingredient for use in cosmetics .
